When you’re in the property, you might feel like the outside world doesn’t exist. Fortunately for you, there is loads to do: from walks and bike rides to drinks and dining.

  • There are numerous stunning walking options on your doorstep at the Wilderness Lodge, including the much vaunted Offa’s Dyke.

  • With two National Trust properties, Chirk Castle and Erddig, within a 20 minute radius and the stunning walled City of Chester just half an hour away, you won’t be short of things to see outside the serenity of the Lodge.

  • There are several excellent dining options within touching distance of the Lodge, but our favourites are the Townhouse in Oswestry, House of the Rising Sun in Shrewsbury & Sticky Walnut in Chester.

  • Blind Tiger in Shrewsbury is a cocktail bar inspired by the 1920’s prohibition era, a dark, atmospheric gem.

The Libertine is another excellent option for cocktails in Shrewsbury - from the classics to the theatrics, they have concoctions for everyone’s tastes.

If you’re heading to Chester, look no further than Fiesta Havana. It’s the home of the mojito, but we can’t resist a classic margarita, or five, every time we go.
